***NEW
& IMPORTANT*** Tournament
Materials/Documents
Tournament-In-A-Box
resource are now available for people interested in organizing
a Science Decathlon tournament. Having all of these generic
resources available will save tournament directors a TREMENDOUS,
TREMENDOUS amount of time. As a result, we hope it will
be that much easier for people to organize Science Decathlon
tournaments throughout the United States.
February
6, 2007 -
Special
thanks to Greer Harvell, Dr. Asaad Samaan and Dr. Cary Willard
for recently volunteering to host Science Decathlon tournaments
in Florida, Connecticut and southern California (respectively).
Having nearly 10 tournaments in 2008 will provide an opportunity
for a population base of nearly 17 million 6th-12th grade
students who would be able to travel by vehicle to one of
these tournaments. That is about 65% of the U.S. 6th-12th
grade student population. This is wonderful progress for
what by that time will be 4.5 years of development for Science
Decathlon..

October
21, 2006 -
Science
Decathlon now has a message board. Officially named the
National Science Decathlon Community Message Board, it can
be found at www.sciencedecathlon.com/community.
It has been designed as a safe and postive place for Science
Decathlon students from throughout the United States to
be able to interact. Likewise, it was recommended by coaches
to be used as a tool for coaches to discuss Science Decathlon
strategies, issues and share information. Currently, the
board does have three moderators and strict user approval
procedures. Sorry, this may be an inconvenience at first,
BUT it should prove to make it a better tool over the long
haul.
October 21, 2006 -
It's
OFFICIAL. Science Decathlon teams are now made up of a maximum
of six (6) Regular Team members and (still) up to two (2)
Alternates.
October

NOTE - This is still a large file. 155mb. It can take
a while to download. Smaller clips of the whole 7.5 minute
video are available via the Coaches
