#1 - Science Decathlon is designed to make competition-based science education a feasible, affordible and routine opportunity for everybody, even those not associated with formally accredited educational institutions.

#2 - Science Decathlon showcases area-specific skills of the top science students in the United States.

#3 - Science Decathlon offers small/rural schools, new teams, church teams, homeschool teams and neighborhood groups an economic opportunity to be formally recognized and rewarded for their achievements and successes as they relate to science education.

#12 - Science Decathlon meets, and more often than not, exceeds state and national science education standards.
